Minnesota Timberwolves Roster Report 2008-09-22
DRAFT PICK: Kevin Love, F, 6-9, UCLA. Uniquely skilled big man was the best center at the Las Vegas Summer League and his play there earned him an invitation to practice against the U.S. Olympic team the next week there. A sore Achilles tendon injured near the end of summer league play kept him from participating.

PLAYER NOTES:

--Rookie Kevin Love was the fifth player selected in the June draft, but he was the one selected by EA Sports to appear on the cover of its NCAA Basketball '09 video game. He attributes his selection to the UCLA mystique and the Bruins' recent NCAA tournament successes and calls the "honor" a "late birthday present." He turned 20 on Sept. 7.

--Expect the Wolves to add NBA Developmental League guard Blake Ahearn, who played on their Las Vegas Summer League team, to their training-camp roster in search for that combo guard to back up Foye and Telfair.

--The Wolves likely will sign a free-agent big man before training camp opens because they need an extra big body with Jefferson and Collins both injured.

--New Wolves forward Rodney Carney, acquired in a July trade with Philadelphia, remains slowed by a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the team's Las Vegas Summer League games.
