Minnesota Timberwolves Notes, Quotes 2009-12-12

Minnesota Timberwolves Notes, Quotes 2009-12-12--F Kevin Love moved into the starting lineup Friday night for the first time after collecting three double-doubles off the bench in his first four games back from that broken hand.

Damien Wilkins came out to make room for Love at power forward against Lakers forward Pau Gasol and Ryan Gomes moved from power forward to small forward to defend Ron Artest.

Until Friday, coach Kurt Rambis said the starting lineup would be based upon that night's matchups.

Asked before the game if Love's emergence as a starter was the inevitable, permanent conclusion to the lineup shuffles or if he'll still base his decisions on matchups, he said, "We'll see. The Lakers, with their size and strength, we just needed more size and length in our starting lineup, so that was the decision for this ballgame. We'll look at matchups as we go along. There's probably a good likelihood it'll stay that way."

--Kurt Rambis took his new team to his old office for Thursday's practice.

Afterward, he remarked on changes at the Lakers' practice facility in El Segundo, Calif.

Images of oversized jerseys honoring Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson and other Lakers greats that now adorn the gym's wall make it "awful bright and yellow in here."

Hey, where's jersey No. 31 on those walls?

"I'm painting it in as soon as you guys leave," Rambis told reporters.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Could be worse, could be a Bruin right now... They're having a tough time right now." -- Wolves forward Kevin Love, playfully referring to his team's 3-19 record compared to his alma mater UCLA's uncharacteristic 4-5 start that includes a four-game losing streak.
