Minnesota Timberwolves Notes, Quotes 2009-12-06

Minnesota Timberwolves Notes, Quotes 2009-12-06--The Wolves on Saturday partied like it was ... 1989?

Or at least they looked as if it were.

For the first of 11 times this season, they wore throwback uniforms that are replicas of the ones the inaugural Wolves team wore 20 years ago.

The new duds -- complete with a vintage wolf-in-the-moon logo on the shorts -- went over big in the locker room.

"I like them: They're real old-school," rookie guard Wayne Ellington said. "They look nice. And it's always good to mix things up a little bit."

Coincidentally, present Saturday was Utah assistant coach Tyrone Corbin, who started at small forward for that first Wolves team and still holds some team records.

--Kevin Love's return gives the Wolves 14 healthy players, two more, of course, than can be in uniform for a game.

That means coach Kurt Rambis now has choices to make.

Veteran point guard Jason Hart has played only once this season and is a given on the inactive list as long as youngsters Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions stay healthy.

The other inactive player will be a decision based on matchups most nights.

The most likely candidate, though, is veteran Brian Cardinal, who hasn't played in three of the past four games.

"A lot of times, it's probably going to fall on Brian Cardinal," Rambis said, "because we've got guys in those 3-4-5 (frontcourt) positions who can do a lot of things. He may be the odd man out."

Center Mark Blount, getting paid to be home in Miami all season, is a persona non grata with the Wolves.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We all made it to this level because we are skilled. If you get it to a guy over half-court, he can take two dribbles and get fouled or get to the rim. That's what we did." -- F Ryan Gomes, on a team that finally got its running game going Saturday.
