--Wolves players didn't seem thrilled when coach Kurt Rambis scheduled a Thanksgiving morning practice after Wednesday's home loss to Denver. Rambis conducted a lively two-hour practice on Thanksgiving morning intended to be fun and festive. "I was thinking the worst, especially the way we played the night before," F Al Jefferson said of the holiday work. "It was a fun practice. We laughed. We got work done, but coach was trying to show us a good time, put a smile on our face, loosen us up. Hopefully it will work." --Coach Kurt Rambis and Phoenix guard Steve Nash share something, even though they really don't know each other well. They both attended the University of Santa Clara in Northern California, albeit about 15 years apart.
"It's probably fairly strange that our paths have just never crossed," Rambis said. "Our time at Santa Clara, there was such a tremendous distance between when I played there and when he played there. And for whatever reasons, our paths never crossed in the NBA."
Somebody asked if he's proud of all Nash has accomplished as a former Santa Clara Bronco.
"Absolutely, absolutely," Rambis said. "He is the second-best player who's ever come out of Santa Clara."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's a long day. It's a very, very long day." -- Coach Kurt Rambis on Friday's 8:30 p.m. start against the Suns. The game was scheduled for the late start as part of an ESPN doubleheader, but the network on Sunday bumped the game from its schedule and showed Oklahoma City-Milwaukee in that time slot.
