After a four-game absence that felt much longer, Mike Miller will finally return to the Timberwolves' starting lineup tonight against San Antonio.
"I'm going. I'm going," Miller said after the morning shootaround. "This time for real. I feel good." Miller, who suffered the injury during a Dec. 3 loss at Orlando, said he's felt ready to go for a while now but that trainers wanted to hold him back.
Coach Kevin McHale said it will be good to get his starting shooting guard back, especially facing Spurs guard Tony Parker, who burned the Wolves for a career-high 55 points in the teams' first meeting.
"We're going to try to make him make some shots, test the water, do some things," McHale said. "The bad news is he won't have to get 55. (Manu) Ginobili is back playing. They ran almost everything for Tony in that (first) game and he was just on fire."
Ginobili missed the teams' first meeting because of an ankle injury.
Miller, asked if he expects his ankle to limit him in any way, said he hopes not.
"There's going to be some soreness," he said. "I turned it pretty good and it was only a week ago. It seems like forever and it was only a week ago. I've just got to go out there and play and put it behind me, not worry about it."
With Miller back, Rashad McCants will come off the bench in tonight's game after two straight starts.
Brewer sighting: Forward Corey Brewer, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in a Nov. 29 game against Denver, attended practice and will undergo surgery soon to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
"Dr. (David) Fischer, the team doctor, is going to have somebody from surgery here Wednesday to treat it," Brewer said.
Brewer fell to the floor twice during the Denver game and said he didn't know how serious the injury was at first.
"I just thought I twisted it a little bit, but I guess I tore it," he said. "It's really never hurt since it happened, but the MRI doesn't lie."
Brewer said it's been hard to watch the Wolves play without him but that he expects to come back 100 percent next season.
"It's very disappointing, but you know, things happen," he said. "I got hurt. I've just got to get my leg stronger and come back strong next year."
