The Timberwolves got big contributions from a number of players in Friday night's 116-108 win over New Orleans, starting with 24 points apiece from their Big Two of Al Jefferson and Randy Foye.
But don't forget about Mike Miller. Still looking for his outside shot, the Wolves' veteran shooting guard took the ball to the basket and finished with 12 points in his best all-around game in more than a month.
"I've said along I think Mike gets a bad rap as just a shooter," coach Kevin McHale said Saturday. "Mike had five assists, nine rebounds last night, moved the ball beautifully, attacked, got fouled, got us in the penalty Just did a lot of really, really good stuff, but that's how he plays. He's a very versatile Basketball player. When he starts knocking down that shot, it just adds a whole other dimension to his game and our team."
Killer threes: James Posey's seven three-pointers for the Hornets were three short of the most ever by a Wolves opponent, but McHale wouldn't fault his team's perimeter defense.
"We lost him one time in transition," he said. "Other than that, we were helping out on the drives, kicking it back, and he was making shots. When you have a guy like Chris Paul, I don't care what happens, there's going to be X amount of over-helping and sucking in. He does suck you in."
Detroit's Joe Dumars hit 10 three-pointers against the Wolves on Nov. 8, 1994.
Next up: The Wolves will be back at Target Center to take on Chicago at 6 tonight.
This is the second meeting this season between the Bulls and Wolves, who rode Foye's 21 points to a 102-92 victory at Chicago on Jan. 3.
