Minnesota Timberwolves president David Kahn said he knows of no deal that, according to a Spanish media report earlier today, would move first-round draft pick Ricky Rubio from DKV Joventut to Regal Barcelona.
"Based on the information I have attained today, no team in any league has reached a deal with DKV Joventut concerning Ricky's buyout, which must be accomplished before Ricky is released from his contract with DKV Joventut," Kahn said in a statement. The Timberwolves selected the 18-year-old point guard fifth overall in the draft, but a multimillion-dollar buyout could prevent them from signing Rubio for the next year or two. Kahn has made two trips to Spain in hopes of helping find a way for Rubio to join Minnesota this season.
